Bring Sally Up (BSU) Pushups & How do you eat an elephant?
So it’s day 3 of 321 days of BSU! Things are going well.
The challenges of BSU are dwarfed by the challenges of those individuals and families dealing with a disability but there are some similarities.
At first, both challenges seem overwhelming. I vividly remember the day I returned from the hospital after my son Alex was born. My mind was spinning with the difficulties I perceived were coming. I didn’t know how Alex, our my family would get through it. Eventually, we just started working through the issues one by one. We had much to learn, many things we got right but probably even more we got wrong. There were great days and pretty bad days. Over time though we saw solid successes were out weighing the failures. Fast forward 40 years, and with the love of Alex’s mom and sisters, Alex’s hard work, and the support of organizations like Learning Aid Ohio and DSACO, Alex now lives a highly social, independent and productive life. I wish I had his social calendar LOL! The rewards are too many to count.
So how do you face the obstacles of special needs or the BSU challenge? The same way you eat an elephant - one bite at a time.
Thanks for your support.
